  • Why do you need to do this? The host server your site is currently on has a fee of $150 to add/support SSL and HSR is not happy with that. While they were the best host company at the time of your website creation (years back), we have a better price for SSL and better host for handling it. Your site is currently showing a warning in the browser address bar to your visitors that says your site is not safe to browse.
  • What is SSL? SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. SSL creates a secure connection between your website and your visitors browser. It uses encryption algorithms to scramble data in transit as data is transferred back and forth between the two.
  • What does this cost? Scott and Audra have negotiated a great rate for us to handle this for you. Normally, we charge $150 to move a website from one server to another. Then we also charge $150 to install and secure a website with SSL. That’s $300 total. You are getting it for $79 but it is a limited time offer.
  • What is the process? After we receive your order, we will move the files and database that make up your site to the new host. When that is done we will will access what are called your “DNS records” from the site you purchased your website address from and change them to the new server IP address. Once your site is live on the new server we will turn on SSL and install a special plugin on your site that makes the SSL work. You’ll need to leave this plugin installed.  There is nothing you need to do other than give us the information we are asking for on the order form.
  • Will my website or email go down at all? This does not affect your email. Your website may be down for a 30 minutes to a couple hours once we update the DNS records but we have no control over that. When the IP address of your website changes, all the servers across the internet need to learn the new IP in a process called “Propagation”. But, don’t worry, our team does this part at night while most people are sleeping so this should not affect your business.
